Rajath Bappanad, MS

Rajath graduated from UAB with both a BS and an MS in Multidisciplinary Biomedical Sciences. In his undergraduate years, he served as the Student President of the Department of Service Learning. He has been directing Social Medicine Birmingham for 3 years. He develops our objectives, research initiatives, and interdisciplinary outreach.

Vidhur Prasanna

Vidhur handles our outreach to local businesses and develops our fundraisers, market research, and communication with corporate stakeholders. He also investigates local unethical business practices and their effects on health.

Director of Technology Advocacy and Computer Science

Ellis Alcantara Martinez

Ellis is an undergraduate double major in computer science and applied mathematics. He has interned at prestigious companies for software engineering, such as Amazon for their elite team within Lab126. He also has had experience with local technology initiatives as an intern for HiveRnD, as well as the Magic City Data Collective who develop data science literacy and applications in the Birmingham community. He handles our databases, digital activism, telehealth initiatives, and researches about the applications of technology and software in relation to our mission. In an increasingly technologically-driven world, social problems become intertwined with technology and the cyberspace- specialized literacy in these areas becomes a vital part of serving the people.
